Dr Uwe Schwiersch – Doctor of Physiotherapy
Dr Uwe Schwiersch (Doctor of Physiotherapy) holds qualifications in Physiotherapy, Exercise Physiology and Education, with degrees from universities in Australia, Germany and the United States. His extensive academic background, combined with decades of clinical experience, underpins a highly advanced and results-driven approach to patient care.
Dr Uwe is known for his exceptional diagnostic ability and his commitment to identifying the true source of a patient’s problem rather than simply treating symptoms. He believes that successful treatment begins with a thorough assessment, a deep understanding of biomechanics and tissue pathology, and a clear strategy tailored to the individual. His analytical approach, combined with highly specialised hands-on treatment techniques, has helped countless patients achieve lasting results.

He is the only physiotherapist on the Sunshine Coast qualified in ART® (Active Release Techniques), a highly specialised soft tissue treatment system recognised internationally for its effectiveness in treating complex musculoskeletal conditions. Dr Uwe has used this advanced technique successfully with many patients, often achieving excellent long-term outcomes where other treatments have failed.

Dr Uwe also has extensive expertise in Focused Shockwave Therapy and is the only physiotherapist on the Sunshine Coast using focused shockwave therapy who has undertaken international training in this field. His advanced knowledge of shockwave applications, treatment protocols and tissue-specific approaches allows him to manage a wide range of acute and chronic conditions with precision and confidence.
His reputation extends well beyond Australia. Over the years, Dr Uwe has worked in senior clinical roles both nationally and internationally, building a strong track record of successful patient outcomes. Throughout his career, Dr Uwe has worked with elite and professional athletes across a wide range of sports, including triathlon, soccer, athletics, rugby, dance, ice hockey and kayaking. His ability to combine high-level assessment, performance-focused rehabilitation and advanced treatment techniques has made him a valued practitioner in both sports and complex musculoskeletal care.
In addition to his private clinical work, Dr Uwe has supported the Australian Defence Force for many years as a contract health practitioner at RAAF Base Tindal in the Northern Territory, further demonstrating the breadth of his experience and the confidence placed in his clinical expertise.
